Below you can find links to various groups dedicated to expanding the film scene of SoCal, facilitating the search for screenings by curating them, and providing a community for like-minded individuals to connect and discuss their common interest in film.
- Secret Movie Club
- Founded by filmmaker Craig Hammill, Secret Movie Club aims to revive the small, single room theaters throughout Los Angeles. The club frequently hosts movie nights, pulling from a wide range of film types, from classics to foreign films to lesser known works.
- You may find the link above is under construction. This is because the club is relatively new and has not launched their website yet. To find out more about them, you may follow these links:
- marquee.la
- Marquee LA is a small project dedicated to curating movie screenings in the greater Los Angeles area. The creators pride themselves on supporting the local movie scene, contributing to the overall global movie experience.
- Revival Hub LA
- Much like Marquee, Revival Hub curates movie screenings all around Los Angeles for “LA’s rabid cinephiles.” These two differ in their structure, with Revival Hub offering a larger base of events, even including discussions and film making classes.
- Hollywood Gothique
- Hollywood Gothique specializes in fantasy, mystery, sci-fi, and horror cinema, with in depth reviews, discussions, and event listings. As an aside, this group also extends past cinema into horror attractions such as haunted houses.
- Cinema Society
- Member-only group organizing private viewing with celebrity guest appearances. Much like the history of some of the other groups presented, the founder Andrew Friedenberg strives to rejuvenate the arts/film community of San Diego.
In further development of the site, this links page will direct you to a “Theaters” page and a “Movies” Page, where I will link theaters to their sites and movie screenings to their event information, respectively.
